Wisconsin Homeowner Holds Attic Intruder at Gunpoint

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

Returning home from work one Monday morning, a Cudahy, Wisconsin homeowner, identified only as "John J." by local news, discovered signs of an intruder. Upon finding insulation scattered across his kitchen floor, John initially suspected an animal had entered his attic. However, the reality was far more alarming. He encountered a man, later identified as 36-year-old Robert Turner Jr., hiding in his attic. As a licensed concealed carry weapon holder, John drew his firearm and apprehended Turner, holding him at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived.

During the standoff, Turner allegedly offered John a $300 bribe in a desperate attempt to escape. Cudahy police swiftly responded to John's call and took Turner into custody. Authorities discovered Turner possessed ecstasy and a stolen firearm was recovered near the residence. Turner also appeared to be suffering from a broken leg. This incident occurred while Turner was on parole for a previous hit-and-run offense.

The arrest followed a recent crime spree in Cudahy. Just hours before, a shelter-in-place warning had been issued after reports of shots fired at police officers, requiring their rescue with an armored vehicle. The previous day, police responded to reports of breaking glass and a witness sighting an individual leaping between rooftops. Following Turner's apprehension, investigators linked him to these earlier incidents. He now faces charges including recklessly endangering safety, possession of a firearm by a felon, and burglary.
