12-Year-Old Arrested After 160-Mile Car Chase Across Washington State

A preteen from Washington state is facing serious charges after allegedly stealing his grandfather's car and leading authorities on a 160-mile chase across the state. The 12-year-old boy, whose connection to Moses Lake in Grant County prompted the search, was apprehended after a brief pursuit involving a PIT maneuver.

The incident began when police in Issaquah alerted the Grant County Sheriff's Office that the boy had stolen the vehicle and was likely headed towards their jurisdiction. The Sheriff’s Motor Traffic Unit located the car parked in Moses Lake, but the boy fled, initiating a pursuit that ended near Randolph Road and State Route 17 when a deputy executed a PIT maneuver, bringing the vehicle to a stop.

The boy was taken into custody and booked into the Chelan County Juvenile Justice Center. He faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and felony eluding. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and vehicle damage was minimal.
