Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

One year after being named an honorary All-Star while detained in Russia, Brittney Griner has earned a starting spot in the WNBA All-Star Game through votes from fans, media, and players. This marks Griner's ninth All-Star selection.

A'ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart led the fan voting and will captain the teams for the game in Las Vegas on July 15. Both players served as captains last year, with Wilson's team emerging victorious. This is also their fifth All-Star appearance each.

Indiana Fever rookie Aliyah Boston joins the starting lineup, potentially becoming the first rookie starter since Shoni Schimmel in 2014. Satou Sabally of Dallas and Nneka Ogwumike of Los Angeles complete the frontcourt starters. Ogwumike expressed her gratitude for the honor and the opportunity to play with such talented athletes.

The backcourt starters consist of Las Vegas teammates Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young, Seattle's Jewell Loyd, and Dallas' Arike Ogunbowale.

League coaches will select the reserves, comprising three guards, five frontcourt players, and four players at either position. Coaches cannot vote for their own players. The reserves will be announced on July 1, with Stewart and Wilson drafting their teams on July 8.

Fan votes contribute 50% towards determining the starters, with WNBA players and a media panel each accounting for 25%. Player scores are calculated by averaging their weighted rank across all three voting groups.
