The Washington Commanders have added a familiar name to their coaching roster: Jesse Madden, grandson of the late NFL icon John Madden. The team announced Jesse's appointment as an offensive quality control coach on Tuesday.
A recent graduate of the University of Michigan, Jesse was part of the Wolverines' national championship team in 2024. He initially played quarterback in his freshman year (2021) before transitioning to defensive back.

John Madden's illustrious NFL career included a 103-32-7 record as head coach of the Oakland Raiders, culminating in a Super Bowl victory in 1976. He later became a renowned broadcaster, and his name became synonymous with the popular Madden NFL video game series.

The Commanders are coming off a remarkable 2024 season, improving from a 4-13 record to 12-5 and reaching the NFC Championship game. Their success was fueled in part by the performance of Offensive Rookie of the Year, Jayden Daniels.
In addition to Jesse Madden, the Commanders have also brought on Brian Schneider as assistant special teams coordinator. Schneider has a wealth of NFL coaching experience, most recently serving as the special teams coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers in 2022 and 2023. Prior to that, he held the same role with the Seattle Seahawks from 2010 to 2020, where his units excelled in takeaways and blocked kicks.
