New Jersey Senator Demands Action on Unidentified Drone Sightings

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

Amid growing public concern and unanswered questions, New Jersey State Senator Jon Bramnick is urging Governor Phil Murphy to declare a state of emergency to address the recent surge of unidentified drone sightings across the state. In an interview on "Cavuto Live," Senator Bramnick, a Republican, expressed his frustration with the lack of information and called for the FAA to participate in the emergency declaration. He emphasized the need to ground all drones temporarily to investigate these incidents thoroughly.

These mysterious drone sightings, reported near military installations and residential areas since mid-November, have sparked alarm among citizens and officials. Notable locations include President-elect Trump's Bedminster golf course. Similar incidents have been reported in other states like New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut, as well as over U.S. airbases in the UK.

Despite these concerns, White House national security communications adviser John Kirby has stated that many of the reported sightings are likely legally operated aircraft, posing no national security threat. However, this explanation has done little to quell public anxiety and has even fueled conspiracy theories about potential foreign involvement.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas echoed this sentiment, stating that the government lacks the authority to shoot down drones and believes many reports stem from misidentification. This perceived lack of transparency has further frustrated residents, some of whom have threatened to take action themselves.

Senator Bramnick criticized the government's response, noting the repeated calls for "more information" without addressing the core concerns of residents. He questioned the Defense Department's ability to assess the threat level and stressed the need for transparency regarding the drones' origin, purpose, and potential threat. He highlighted the state's limited resources for handling such incidents, citing an incident where a state helicopter investigating a drone was seemingly evaded by the unmanned craft.

Given these events, Senator Bramnick reiterated the urgency of grounding all drones to ensure public safety and facilitate a comprehensive investigation.
