A man from Arizona has been apprehended by law enforcement officials for allegedly issuing death threats against President-elect Donald Trump and his family, coupled with attempts to acquire firearms illegally. The suspect, identified as Manuel Tamayo-Torres, reportedly attended a Trump rally in Glendale, Arizona, in August, according to court documents. This rally occurred shortly after a previous assassination attempt on Trump's life in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Tamayo-Torres has a prior conviction from 2003 in California for assault causing great bodily injury, resulting in a six-year prison sentence. Furthermore, his ex-wife secured a restraining order against him in Arizona in July 2023. Both the felony conviction and the active restraining order prohibit him from owning firearms. Despite these legal restrictions, he allegedly attempted to purchase firearms at a Shooters World store in Phoenix on November 13th and 15th, 2023. Prosecutors contend that he falsified information on the required background check forms, claiming he had no prior felony convictions and was not subject to a restraining order.

Phoenix police investigations uncovered a series of Facebook videos posted by Tamayo-Torres. In these videos, he accused an individual, identified in court documents as a "former president and current president-elect," of child trafficking. This individual is never explicitly named but appears to refer to Trump, who served one term as president and was recently re-elected, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris. Tamayo-Torres also made accusations of "white privilege" and alleged a conspiracy involving the death of his daughter and the trafficking of his other children. The existence of any children has not been confirmed by court documents.

In a Facebook video posted on Thursday, Tamayo-Torres reportedly directed expletive-laden insults and threats towards the president-elect. Another video, posted a few days earlier, allegedly shows Tamayo-Torres holding what appears to be an AR-15-style rifle with a 30-round magazine. In this video, he accuses the president-elect of inappropriate conduct with his minor children and claims the incoming first family and Secret Service will be imprisoned.

Further investigation of Tamayo-Torres’s Facebook account revealed images from the August 23rd Trump rally at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, as well as other photos of him posing with firearms. He was arrested in Southern California and is expected to be extradited to Arizona to face federal charges.
