Colorado authorities are investigating allegations of potential criminal activity against veteran actor John Amos, renowned for his role in the sitcom "Good Times." The Custer County Sheriff's Office confirmed they are looking into claims that the 83-year-old actor may be a victim of a crime, possibly involving elder abuse and financial exploitation, and are collaborating with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Human Services. Amos's daughter, Shannon, first raised concerns about her father's well-being in a social media post, revealing he was hospitalized in Memphis, Tennessee, experiencing severe pain, and his condition was critical. She also alleged financial exploitation and elder abuse.

The Custer County Sheriff's Office emphasized their commitment to investigating these serious allegations and stated they are in communication with Amos and his legal representative. They highlighted Amos's standing in the community as a long-time resident and supporter of local law enforcement. While Colorado law doesn't have a specific "elder abuse" charge, the Sheriff's Office outlined several applicable offenses, including criminal negligence, assault, robbery, theft, caretaker neglect, sexual assault, and exploitation. They also noted that penalties for certain crimes against victims aged 70 or older are enhanced. The office expressed their hopes for Amos's swift recovery.

Amos, celebrated for his portrayal of James Evans Sr. on "Good Times," has also appeared in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "Hunter," "The West Wing," and "Men in Trees." He currently has three projects in development, including "The Last Rifleman" alongside Pierce Brosnan and "Capture the Flag" with Dick Van Dyke, Louis Gossett Jr., and Barry Corbin.
