Recent polls reveal a divided American public regarding President-elect Trump's transition back into the White House. A CNN poll shows 55% approval for his handling of the transition, surpassing his first term's initial approval but trailing behind other recent presidents. A separate Marist Poll indicates 47% approval, with a stark partisan split: 86% of Republicans approve while 72% of Democrats disapprove. Independents are more divided, with 43% disapproving and 38% approving.
Marist's director, Lee Miringoff, notes that while overall support outweighs opposition, fewer voters approve of this transition compared to Biden's or Obama's at similar stages. He also highlights the significant number of independents adopting a wait-and-see approach.

Trump's cabinet appointments have progressed rapidly compared to his first term. However, the transition hasn't been without challenges. The initial attorney general nominee, former Rep. Matt Gaetz, withdrew his bid following allegations of sexual misconduct.

Following his election victory against Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump embarked on his first international trip, receiving a warm welcome from world leaders in Paris. The CNN poll further reveals that 54% of Americans anticipate Trump performing well in his second term. His inauguration is scheduled for January 20th.
