A new initiative is calling on Republican lawmakers at the state level to support former President Trump's agenda against growing Chinese influence in American agriculture. The Protecting America Initiative, a group dedicated to countering China's impact within the US, has launched a five-figure advertising campaign. The ad warns of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) efforts to gain control over the US agricultural industry, highlighting concerns about the acquisition of American farmland and the potential threat to the nation's food security.
The ad features a clip of former President Trump emphasizing the unprecedented scale of the challenge and calls on Republicans to help him combat the CCP's influence. It also includes a testimonial from Pennsylvania GOP state Rep. Eric Davanzo, a farmer who expresses concern about the future of American agriculture and urges continued support for policies that prioritize domestic food production.

The ad will air on national cable channels, including Fox News, with a focus on key agricultural states such as Missouri, Iowa, Georgia, and Idaho. The Protecting America Initiative aims to raise awareness about the CCP's strategic moves in the agricultural sector and to encourage state-level action in alignment with Trump's policies.

This campaign follows a poll released last year by the Protecting America Initiative that indicated widespread concern among Americans about the CCP's influence across various sectors, including national security, food security, infrastructure, and higher education. The USDA's data reveals a substantial increase in foreign investment in US agricultural land, reaching approximately 40 million acres as of 2021. Chinese investment in this sector saw a tenfold increase between 2009 and 2016, raising concerns about potential control over key food and energy resources.

GOP Rep. Frank Lucas of Oklahoma has voiced concerns about China's strategic acquisition of assets globally, emphasizing the critical importance of safeguarding America's ability to feed itself.
